Kicker, Austin MacGinnis

Kicker is not a priority position in the NFL draft for most teams. 2017 saw only two kickers drafted. Zane Gonzalez was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and Jake Elliot was chosen by the Cincinnati Bengals. Gonzalez has only made 70% of his field goal attempts, however, Elliot has connected on 85% of his attempts and has made some clutch kicks for the Philadelphia Eagles this season. That included 5-of-6 from beyond 50 yards.

Austin MacGinnis had a productive junior season as the Wildcats’ place kicker, but 2017 has not been as kind to the senior from Pratville, Alabama. MacGinnis has connected on every extra point this season and knocked through 21-of-27 field goals. The SEC has two other kickers who may be drafted in 2018. Florida’s Eddy Piniero and Auburn’s Daniel Carlson may be selected before MacGinnis.

Projection: Undrafted Free Agent
