Kentucky Basketball: 3 Players to Watch vs Va Tech

John Calipari has called for Wenyen Gabriel to play more like Derek Willis. The Kentucky coach said on Monday during his call-in show that he thought Gabriel did just that against Monmouth.
Gabriel brings energy off the bench as UK’s sixth-man. He is averaging 6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Gabriel has also improved his three-point shooting. He is knocking down 33% of his 3-point attempts.
While Gabriel’s offense has seen an improvement, his defense is what sets him apart and will be needed Saturday against Virginia Tech. Gabriel is averaging 0.9 steals and 1.7 blocks per game. His length is a valuable asset, especially when getting out onto the Hokie three-point shooters.
