The University of Kentucky basketball team fell one spot in the latest AP Poll to No. 8.

The Wildcats, who took care of business on Saturday against Harvard, dropped from No. 7 to No. 8 in the latest AP Men’s Basketball poll. Texas A&M and Wichita State leapfrogged Kentucky in the rankings and Notre Dame fell to No. 9.

After defeating No. 10 USC last week and handling their business against Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, Texas A&M moved up two spots to No.7. With Texas A&M, Florida and Kentucky, the SEC currently has 3 teams in the Top 10. With a record of 7-0, the Aggies are undefeated on the season.

After losing a close one last week to Notre Dame, Wichita State rebounded to take down No. 16 Baylor in Waco. Wichita State has challenged themselves early this season with games against California, Notre Dame and Baylor.

Kentucky wasn’t the only team to fall in the AP Poll. UK’s cross-state rival, the Louisville Cardinals, fell out of the AP Poll completely. Louisville had a rough week losing against Purdue and Seton Hall. The Cardinals were ranked No. 17 going into their games last week.

Duke is still No. 1, getting all 65 first-place votes. The Blue Devils are a perfect 10-0 to start the season.

Kentucky doesn’t play again until Saturday when they take on Monmouth in the Citi Hoops Classic. Tip off is set for 12:00 ET in New York City at Madison Square Garden. As it stands now, the Wildcats will not face a ranked opponent until they get into conference play next month.
