The Best of the Rest

The rest of the SEC will have their ups and downs. But, the Kentucky Basketball program will have their battles with a few other teams. The Florida Gators return a ton of talent and the South Carolina Gamecocks are fresh off of their run to the NCAA Final Four. Although they lost their key players in Sindarius Thornwell and PJ Dozier, the momentum of Frank Martin cannot be underestimated.

The Georgia Bulldogs will return possible the best player in the SEC in Yante Maten. A future NBA pro, Maten is a tough out for just about any post defender in the conference including everyone at Kentucky. He will be tough to handle. But, the Bulldogs don’t seem to have enough scoring returning after the departure of JJ Frazier.

For some odd reason, Vanderbilt is always a tough out for Kentucky. It just seems as though the Commodores have the Wildcats’ number at times. But, with Luke Kornet out of the picture, Kentucky should be in good shape.

The final team on the radar would have to be the Tennessee Volunteers. Last season the Vols defeated the Wildcats in Knoxville in a lopsided victory. Rick Barnes‘ squad shouldn’t be underestimated in any sense of the matter. Good coaches get the best out of their players in tough situations and he’s one of the best.
