Kentucky Football loses it’s second player in 2018 to decommitment.

According to WBN’s recruiting sources, 4-star linebacker Xavier Peters has decommitted from the Kentucky Football program just a day after his commitment. No official announcement has been made by the school or Peters himself, but it looks as though the word around the block is that he has rushed his decision.

This isn’t to say that he won’t recommit, but just a day after his commitment, I think he became a little nervous.

This is more than a four year decision for these young guys. Their college choice will define them forever.

What’s this mean for Kentucky?

Kentucky gets knocked out of the top-15 in (national) team recruiting rankings. This is a bad loss, but it isn’t definite until a national letter of intent is signed.

Kentucky is still high on 4-star linebacker Chris Oats and apparently he is leaning Kentucky.

Another name to mention is 4-star linebacker Eriq Gilyard. Gilyard is one of the nations best linebackers, and Kentucky is high on him.

The linebacker position at Kentucky is in amazing shape, so the Xavier Peters decommitment is not as bad as maybe a Jarren Williams decommitment would be. But, Kentucky’s prized quarterback commit offered Peters some words of advice. Williams knows a thing or two about big decisions.

Final Thoughts

Kentucky football still has a top-25 recruiting class in July. They are still going to get commitments from some of the nation’s top prospects. And they are still going to finish among the best in team ranking.

Losing a player to decommitment can sometimes affect a class, but I don’t think the class will fall apart or anything of that nature.

I truly think Xavier Peters just needs time to think about what he wants and needs to do. He’ll take this time to talk to coaches, mentors, and parents, to do what is right for his football career and life.

The recruiting cycle in college football is vicious. Coaches from all around the country do whatever is necessary to get a player that they really want.

Hold tight, Big Blue Nation. There is good news coming your way.
