Derek Willis is getting his NBA shot with the Detroit Pistons. The Kentucky Basketball fan favorite will have to open some eyes with his potential.

Kentucky Basketball players are beginning to receive invites to NBA Summer League teams. Derek Willis is an undrafted senior who will get his NBA shot with the Detroit Pistons. Willis has been a fan favorite from Mt. Washington, Kentucky. The 6-foot-9 forward has a great game that just may translate well to the NBA.

Derek Willis is an intriguing player that has the possibility of impressing some NBA executives. But, as an undrafted free agent playing in the NBA Summer League, he will have to show some major potential to make it onto a roster to begin the season.

There is no doubt in my mind that Willis has the talent to be a career G-League player. But, that’s not going to be good enough for the young man. With the power of the Big Blue Nation behind him, Derek Willis will need to make sure to do a few things this summer to make sure he gets the best look by NBA teams.
