It’s no secret that the small forward position will be the weak link in the Kentucky Alumni Chain. But, at the same time, A guy like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is the type of player who is a max effort performer. He only averaged 10 points per game last season for the Charlotte Hornets. What MKG brings to the table is a relentless defender that the Kentucky Alumni squad can rely on to guard the opposition’s best player. He will not give you much offensively, but with the rest of the starting lineup and scoring prowess that this team could possess, MKG’s measly 10 points per game are just an added trade-off bonus for his defensive game.

Gilchrist played at Kentucky in the 2011-2012 season alongside Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones. That Kentucky team went on to win the NCAA Championship. Davis and MKG went No. 1 and No. 2 in the 2012 NBA Draft. The athleticism and competitiveness that Gilchrist brings to the table would benefit this team tremendously.
