There was not a Kentucky Football player drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Kentucky Football’s best chance to have a player selected in the 2017 NFL Draft came from Center Jon Toth. Unfortunately, the Kentucky senior did not get the call after the seven rounds concluded Saturday afternoon.

For seven rounds, SEC players from all over the conference were getting the call. As for the Wildcats, it looks like they will wait until next season to go at it again.

In terms of talent, Mark Stoops and company have improved on recruiting but have yet to land a five star prep player. There have been plenty of draftees that were not five stars as a high school player, but it helps with the talent at a school like Kentucky.

In order for Kentucky to start putting players in the draft consistently, it starts with recruiting and ends with development. Of course, it helps when you win games and get as many things on tape as possible.

The 2018 Draft Class?

After next season, many of the top Wildcats will be draft eligible. The question is who will take the leap? After seeing Boom Williams go underrated, it may caution other underclassmen to think twice about making the move to end their collegiate career.

Defensive Backs Chris Westry, Derek Baity, and Mike Edwards will be draft eligible, as will Linebackers Jordan Jones and Josh Allen. Jones will most surely have the toughest decision of all underclassmen apart from Tight end CJ Conrad. Of course, seniors Cole Mosier, Kyle Meadows, Courtney Love, Garrett Johnson and Stephen Johnson make the best case for draft picks next season.
