Jarren Williams was the first commitment in Kentucky’s 2018 recruiting class. Now, the three-star quarterback has reopened his recruitment.

Jarren Williams is a three star quarterback from Central Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Williams had been the first commitment from the 2018 class for Mark Stoops and company. Kentucky Football Quarterback coach, Darin Hinshaw recruited the talented dual-threat star. Hinshaw has a knack for finding some of the best quarterbacks that no one knows about.

Williams committed to Kentucky on June 19, 2016. Since then, he has received offers from numerous power five schools including Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, LSU and Miami (FL).

Familiar Territory

Kentucky has seen this happen before. Last season, Kentucky Football gained the commitment of four-star quarterback Mac Jones out of Florida. Once Alabama had offered the nation’s Number 12 pocket passer, he decommitted from the Wildcats and flipped to the Crimson Tide.

Some may see the writing on the wall with Williams as well. When Nick Saban comes calling and wants a prospect, its hard to steer them away. Kentucky has a lot of experience in that kind of thing with Damien Harris, Jedrick Wills, Mac Jones, and now possibly Jarren Williams.

It may be a coincidence that Williams received an offer from the Tide on April 11, and 14 days later, the kid decommits from Kentucky. But it just goes to show the power of an Alabama offer.

Who will Hinshaw go after now?

Obviously, the Kentucky Football Coaching staff will not stop recruiting Williams. Look for the staff, however to begin the search for another recruit to pursue. Even though Kentucky’s roster is filled with capable quarterbacks such as Danny Clark, Walker Wood and Gunnar Hoak. Those three in particular will have numerous years of eligibility left.

Still, it is logical to think that every recruiting class should include a quarterback for depth reasons. Whether or not Hinshaw has his eye on another prospect, that has not yet been determined.
