Kansas Jayhawks (Big 12)

With Kansas being a majorly successful basketball program, having them in the SEC would mean that the conference as a whole would be stronger. Included together would be two of the more storied programs in all of College Basketball. Kansas being included with Kentucky Basketball would ultimately mean a literal clash of titans each year during the regular season. Kentucky and Kansas have a history of great matchups. The amount of attention that the game would get would rival the Duke/Carolina games.

Kentucky basketball would benefit from having a national power like Kansas enter the conference to legitimize the conference on a national level. If teams are competitive with Kansas in the SEC, the strength of schedule and would ultimately pave the way for teams to find creative ways to compete with the major historic programs. The SEC has taken huge steps forward in the grand schemes of college basketball. Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Florida all made noise in the NCAA Tournament. Most notably, South Carolina and Frank Martin made the biggest splash with their final four run. Kudos to the Gamecocks.

Kansas has a football team?

Quick answer, yes. Kansas has a struggling football program that would definitely struggle within the SEC. The good thing about Kansas entering the SEC’s gauntlet of football powerhouses, is that there would be another team that Kentucky would be able to compete with. A lot of comparisons between Kansas and Kentucky football have been identified. The bottom line is that Kansas would struggle in this football conference, but so have other schools like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and most recently, South Carolina.

Kansas brings a lot to the table when talking about an SEC Expansion. A lot of Kentucky Basketball fans would probably rebel against the idea of adding someone in the conference as highly touted as Kansas but I say bring it on. Its good for college basketball to watch the best play the best. It makes for great television and great television means money.
