“He Did What?!” It was an eye-popping end to the NBA regular season for Kentucky basketball players
Kentucky Basketball fans should take a lot of pride in this NBA season.
Kentucky Basketball was on one this year. Oh, what does ‘on one’ mean?
I’ll tell you what on one means.
“On one” – Just generally trippin’, tweakin’, weird, actin’ a fool, blackin’ out, goin’ off. To be clear, Kentucky Basketball players are firmly in the ‘goin’ off’ bucket, according to this definition. Shout out to Urban Dictionary.
More specifically, there is an all-time high number of former Wildcats making strides in the league. Here are a few stats to consider:
- 25 former Kentucky Basketball players played in the NBA this season.
- 10 of them averaged over 10 points per game, and six averaged over 20.
- Only 31 players averaged over 20 this year. Someone get me a GIF.
Those are basic stats, and believe me, we could dig deeper. But the point is that Kentucky Basketball has infiltrated the league, and it isn’t leaving anytime soon.
But the real MVP this year? It has to be the eyes emoji. No emoji is more perfect with basketball highlights. Let’s get to the good stuff.
One last time for Karl-Anthony Towns
Alright everybody, give it up for your boy Karl-Anthony Towns! [Applause]
Towns had himself quite a year, ending up in the conversation for the 3rd team All-NBA center position. That is quite an accomplishment. Sources say that Karlito could not be more proud.

Look at Towns, slamming it down, ending the year strong. Most guys would kill to put up eye-emoji highlights. Karl-Anthony Towns? It’s just another day at the office.
One last time for Skal Labissiere
Once again, put your hands together for my NBA Cat of the Year! [Standing Ovation]

Yeah, I said it. Skal Labissiere had my favorite season of any former Wildcat in the NBA. There are more than a handful that had unquestionably better years than Skal, but you know what? This is my award.
Labissiere had a rough go at Kentucky, and many lost faith in him when he declared for the draft. But once DeMarcus Cousins was traded to New Orleans, Labissiere was given the space and opportunity to spread his wings. Keep it up next year, Skal. I’m keeping an eye on your production. 👀
One last time for Devin Booker
Finally, make some noise for Mr. 70 Devin Booker! [Mosh Pit Intensifies]
You may notice this is the last time for all of these players because these former Wildcats did not make the playoffs. Unfortunately, that’s the burden of being selected in the lottery.
Want to know one good thing about being selected in the lottery? You usually make casual jumpers from the logo.

Until next time, Devin Booker. Your 70 points were a highlight of the season.

As for the playoffs, “He Did What?!” should keep rolling along. In the first round, expect to see seven former Wildcats: Trey Lyles, Enes Kanter, Patrick Patterson, Rajon Rondo, James Young, Andrew Harrison and John Wall.
