Kentucky Basketball Recruit Jarred Vanderbilt Shines in Nike Hoop Summit
Kentucky Basketball commit Jarred Vanderbilt had a big night for Team USA in the Nike Hoops Summit.
Last night, the 20th annual Nike Hoop Summit took place. This event is widely known for displaying the top players in the world. Kentucky Basketball’s 5-star point forward commit, Jarred Vanderbilt was electric in last night’s 98-87 victory over the World team.
The USA team was led by Missouri commit Michael Porter Jr. and Kentucky’s Jarred Vanderbilt with 19 points each. What was even more impressive was that Vanderbilt showed dominance on the glass, pulling down 10 boards. Vanderbilt’s 19 point, 10 rebound, double-double was a game high for both categories.

Vanderbilt also added three assists, two steals, and two blocks to his stat-sheet stuffing game totals. He has already demonstrated that he can contribute in every facet of the game. What’s unappreciated about him as well is his efficiency. Vanderbilt went 8-12 from the field, taking good shots and letting the game to him.

These teammates already have a tight bond, and will be something that will translate to the court. The chemistry that these guys have from the start is something that previous teams never had.
Other Cats in the Nike Hoop Summit
Four-star combo guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and five-star center Nick Richards led the way for the World team. Alexander had 11 points and two assists, while Richards had 12 points and three rebounds. Both were the main options for their team, asserting their position among the best in the world.

Five-star point guard Quade Green was on the roster for the U.S. team but did not play due to a concussion. It’s nothing Kentucky basketball fans should be concerned about, but it is something to keep an eye on. Regardless, next season is going to be fun, with Mo Bamba, Cam Johnson, and Mark Smith still deciding.
