Staff Upgrades and Retention

Staff upgrades may be one of the most underrated reasons why Kentucky will get a ninth win this season. Mark Stoops finally has the staff and roster to compete in the SEC. Having Eddie Gran back for a 2nd season will provide stability in an otherwise unstable offense for Stoops’ last four seasons. Having to learn three philosophies from three different Offensive Coordinators in four years became too much to handle for many players.

Matt House moving from Inside Linebacker and Special Teams Coordinator, to Defensive Coordinator, will help tremendously. Players and staff are already accustomed to House, and with the endorsement from Stoops, it should be a smooth transition.

Additionally, Stoops hired Dean Hood from Eastern Kentucky University for Matt House’s former position. Kentucky’s retention of Vince Marrow as Tight Ends coach and Recruiting Coordinator further stabilizes future recruiting abilities.
