Malik Monk is a scoring machine. The talented Freshman needs to be consistent throughout the tournament.

The Kentucky Wildcats have grown dependent on the scoring of Malik Monk throughout the regular season. Monk did not perform very well in the grand scheme of things throughout the SEC Tournament. The Freshman guard only managed to score two points in Kentucky’s quarterfinal matchup with Georgia.

The end of the regular season proved to be a difficult time for Malik Monk as well. The star scorer tallied just six points in the finale versus the Aggies of Texas A&M. For most, two games with less than 10 points isn’t that big of a deal. But to Kentucky, John Calipari needs Monk’s productive ability to light up the scoring column.

The Plus Side

A positive of Monks scoring struggles late in the season is that Kentucky still found ways to win. Others stepped up to take control. Namely, Bam Adebayo and De’Aaron Fox have turned into machines as of late. Add in the defensive performances of Derek Willis and Dominique Hawkins, the pieces may be coming together for John Calipari’s squad.
