Kentucky Football Lost a Key Contributor in Center, Jon Toth

Jon Toth is one of two starters who will not return to the Kentucky offensive line in 2017. The other, junior guard Ramsey Meyers has chosen to forgo his senior season of football. Both Meyers and Toth were key in the offensive production as the offensive line led the way for two 1,000 yard rushers. Benny Snell and Boom Williams took the conference by storm as they became a dynamic duo. Kentucky finished the season as one of the top rushing attacks in the SEC.

Kentucky will be tasked with filling the holes left by the absence of one of the best centers in all of college football. The replacement will be one of two players. Jervontius “Bunchy” Stallings spent the 2016 season as a contributor as a guard for most of the season. Offensive Line Coach John Schlarman frequently used a rotation of players throughout each game.

The Redshirt Sophomore will surely be in consideration of possible replacements at either position.

Enter Drake Jackson

Drake Jackson just finished up his redshirt season. As a prep star at Woodford County High School in Versailles, Kentucky, Jackson made his name on the national combine circuit. Rated as a four-star offensive lineman, and the No. 2 center in the nation by 247Sports, Jackson will soon need to find a role on this offensive line. As an Army All-American, Jackson impressed. Also, as a competitor in Nike’s “The Opening” Drake Jackson finished in the final five of the best offensive lineman at the competition.

Anyway, with two spots open on the offensive line, it would be expected, that if Jackson has a good Spring, his name will be thrown around in the mix for one of the two spots.
