Boom Williams has capped off a great career as the Kentucky feature back. The Junior Running Back finished 2016 with 1,170 rushing yards on 171 carries. That amounts to an average of 6.8 yards per rush. Boom served as the home run hitter of the Wildcat offense. With speed and elusiveness, Williams was a threat to take it to the house on each carry.
Williams rushed for seven touchdowns in 2016 while also getting into the end zone once on a reception. Boom’s most notable performances of the season was in the matchup against New Mexico State and Missouri. Williams ran for 181 yards on just 18 carries and a touchdown on September 17 in a shootout win agains New Mexico St. at Commonwealth. At Missouri, in an SEC matchup, Boom carried the ball 19 times for 182 yards and a score in a 35-21 victory.
Boom Williams declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season and looks to impress scouts at the upcoming NFL Combine. Coverage of the NFL Combine will air March 3-6 on ESPN.
