The General

Kentucky started the season with Kentucky native, Drew Barker under center. An unfortunate injury to Barker forced the hand of the coaching staff to give the nod to Junior College Transfer, Stephen Johnson. Johnson comes from the College of the Desert.

In 2016, Johnson racked up a total of 2.037 passing yards on completing 145 of 265 passes. The Junior Quarterback threw for 13 touchdowns while also using his legs for three rushing scores. Johnson accumulated 327 yards on the ground. His feet are what makes Stephen Johnson a threat in the pocket. He could move around and buy extra time behind that offensive line to find the open receiver.

Johnson’s best game thus far as a Wildcat came against a thrilling win against Louisville. In the showdown with the Heisman Winner, Lamar Jackson, Johnson threw for 338 yards on 16 of 27 passes and three touchdowns. Johnson also rushed for a season high 83 yards against the Cardinals at Papa John’s Stadium.
