Under-Used and Under-Appreciated

Tight end, CJ Conrad is a huge target for Kentucky quarterbacks to throw at. The 6-foot-5 Ohio native spent a lot of the 2016 season as a blocking H-Back along with fellow Tight End, Greg Hart. Kentucky’s offense did not include throwing it to the tight end consistently.

Even though Conrad ran a limited amount of routes, he caught just 19 balls over the course of the season. In those 19 receptions, four of them resulted in touchdowns for the Wildcats. Conrad finished the season as fifth on the team in total touchdowns.

In most opinions, CJ Conrad is very undervalued as a receiver. With the transfer of power to Quarterback, Stephen Johnson, offensive coordinator Eddie Gran turned to the run game for the bulk of the offense. Conrad played a major role in the rushing attack as a blocker out of the backfield. Kentucky concluded the season as one of the nation’s top rushing attack.
