Let The Debates Begin

Some might want to include a different name in this category. It could be understood that some others are deserving of this spot on the All-Calipari Kentucky Team, but let’s look at the numbers.

Jamal Murray, in his single season in Lexington managed to average 20 PPG, while grabbing 5.2 rebounds as well as dishing out 2.2 assists per game. Murray is second on the all-time list at Kentucky for three point field goals in a season with 113. This is only four three pointers behind Jodie Meeks for the school record. Murray also leads all of Calipari’s former cats in points in a season with 720 total points. Murray’s total is ranked eighth all-time according to Big Blue History.

The Arrow vs. The Reload

Some might want to slide Devin Booker into this slot. Booker, much like Karl-Anthony Towns, suffered from the platoon system. Bookers averages include 10 PPG and 2 RPG while in a Kentucky uniform. Obviously Devin Booker is burning the NBA alive playing for the Phoenix Suns, but again, these decisions are made based solely on players’ performances while at Kentucky.

One could also argue, Malik Monk’s place at this position. The Arkansas native is certainly a play maker. As a ruthless scorer, he definitely deserves some recognition. We saw fit, that for the time being, we would let the 2017 season play out before placing any current Wildcats on this All-Calipari Team.
