The Kentucky Wildcats are preparing for one of the most heavily anticipated seasons in school history. John Calipari has conquered the recruiting trails once again by signing some of the biggest names in the country.

Though he may not be receiving as much hype as his new teammates, you should be thrilled to know Wenyen Gabriel is coming to Lexington.

Gabriel was a late-riser on recruiting boards, but he’s ascended to five-star status. He’s ranked as the No. 12 incoming recruit by Scout, No. 13 by Rivals, and No. 14 by ESPN and 247Sports.

Prior to a recent rise up the high school recruiting rankings, many didn’t even have Gabriel on their radar.

Now that he’s signed on with Calipari’s Wildcats, Gabriel is certain to be of a higher profile. He’ll win fans over in a number of different ways as he strives to help Kentucky basketball hang another banner at Rupp Arena.

Though he may be more enigmatic than his fellow incoming recruits, Gabriel could end up being your favorite player on the 2016 Kentucky basketball team.
