Drew Barker

Position: Quarterback
Class: Sophomore
Height & Weight: 6’3″ & 225 pounds
2015 Season Statistics: 50.0 CMP%, 364 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions; 25 carries, 45 yards, 1 touchdown

As will be established, Kentucky has a number of gifted playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. That places quite the burden on the throwing arm of sophomore quarterback Drew Barker.

After Kentucky football ranked near the bottom of the SEC in passing yards and passing touchdowns in 2015, Barker will need to turn the program around in 2016.

As a team, Kentucky was No. 8 in the SEC in passing yards and No. 10 in completion percentage. It tied for dead last in both passing touchdowns and interceptions—meaning the Wildcats threw more interceptions than all but one team.

Barker really doesn’t have to do much in order to be an improvement over what was a disastrous 2015 passing attack.

Barker certainly has the physical gifts to be a successful college and NFL quarterback at 6’3″ and 225 pounds. He’s been working with co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw to improve his accuracy.

Hinshaw has set the ambitious goal of Barker completing 70 percent of his passes. That should tell you how high the standard has been set.
