Kentucky Wildcats 69, Louisville Cardinals 61

This was one of the best days of my life. I was in New Orleans, as a student at the University of Kentucky, a Kentucky fan since the day I was born, but a little girl that grew up in Louisville. I had friends in New Orleans that were cheering on the Cardinals and friends that were cheering on the Wildcats. It was a bittersweet moment when the Wildcats pulled out the predestined win over the Cardinals to reach the National Championship game.

There is no one else you’d rather beat in the Final Four than your arch-enemy. I don’t care what school you are, that’s who you want to face. It makes the win even sweeter. It makes the loss a little harder to swallow.

It was almost a gimme, though. The Cardinals were good, but there was no one stopping the 2012 Kentucky Wildcats..not even Rick Pitino.

This may forever be the #1 win over the Louisville Cardinals in the John Calipari Era and I’m okay with that…it’s worth it.
