5. Kenny Walker
Our next Walker on the list is none other than Kenny Walker, Kenny “Sky” Walker.
In 1982, Kenny Walker was named Mr. Basketball is his home state of Georgia.
Walker had a very successful college career, being named to an All-SEC team four times and the All-American team twice.
Walker’s 1984 Kentucky team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament before losing to the Georgetown Hoyas. It was quite the heartbreaker for Wildcat fans across the Bluegrass.
In 1986, Walker set a record by scoring 11 straight field goals in the NCAA Tournament. Pretty impressive numbers to be honest.
Walker was drafted 5th overall in the 1986 NBA Draft, but never really found a home in the NBA. He was with the New York Knicks for five years, but they had a new head coach every year, it was quite a mess.
Three days after the death of his father, Walker won the 1989 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Injuries started plaguing Walker’s career, so he took his talent overseas.
Nowdays, he is a host of a radio show in Lexington and you often see him at many, if not all, Wildcat games.
