If you’re around the age 40-55, you probably once had a crush on Kyle Macy, or so I’m told. Even my mom did.

Kyle Macy is known all around the Big Blue Nation. He started his collegiate career with the Purdue Boilmakers but took his talents to the University of Kentucky 1977-1980.

Macy was extremely successful with the Wildcats. Macy was a three-time All-America and three-time All-SEC player.

The 1978 team on which Macy was a starter won the 1978 NCAA National Championship.

In his senior year of 1979–80, he became the first Kentucky player ever to be named consensus Southeastern Conference Player of the Year.

Macy was drafted 22nd overall in the 1979 NBA Draft. Here’s how his career in the NBA went.

  1. 1980-85: Phoenix Suns
  2. 1985-86: Chicago Bulls
  3. 1986-87: Indiana Pacers

After that, he played some seasons overseas, but ultimately came back to Kentucky.

Macy was the head coach Morehead State from 1997-2006. He is now the tennis coach at Lexington Christian Academy in Lexington, Kentucky.
