18. Wayne Turner
Even though he helps coach the arch enemies, the Louisville Cardinals, it doesn’t negate the career he had at the University of Kentucky.
Wayne Turner was a star point guard for the University of Kentucky during a four-year period between 1995-1999 where they won two national titles (1996 and 1998) and lost in the championship game once (1997). He set the NCAA record for games played (which has since broken) with 151 games in his four-year stint with the Kentucky Wildcats.
Following his college career, Turner played for the Boston Celtics and the International Basketball League’s Cincinnati Stuff, which I had never heard of until today.
In 2000 he signed with the Harlem Globetrotters, a prestigious team that kids absolutely love watching, and adults, too.
In 2002 he played for the Dakota Wizards of the Continental Basketball Association and helped the team win the 2002 CBA Championship.
Turner rejoined the Wizards in 2005, helping them reach the play-offs.
In 2008 he returned to the CBA as a member of the East Kentucky Miners.
In September 2010, he returned to the University of Kentucky to finish his degree. He then joined the basketball staff at the University of Kentucky until he was swooped away by the Louisville Cardinals.
Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat, even when he coaches the red, I guarantee he bleeds blue.
