49. Mark Krebs

Mark Krebs, a true Kentucky fan at heart, growing up in Newport, Kentucky was a former walk-on for the Kentucky Wildcats. Krebs saw three head coaches while he was at the University of Kentucky. He was there with Tubby Smith, stuck through the dreadful Billy Gillispie era and was lucky enough to get some coaching by one of the greatest, John Calipari. Funny thing is, Krebs was a walk-on his first three seasons with the Wildcats, but it was Calipari that gave him a scholarship his senior year.

Krebs didn’t see much playing time as a Wildcat, but he, as a person, is something to be proud of. Krebs scored a total of 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the 33 games he played in. He was named to the Academic All-SEC team for the 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 season. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Kentucky.

In the year after his senior season for the University of Kentucky, Krebs’ mother lost her nine-year battle with cancer, prompting Krebs to write a book in her memory, a very emotional, heartfelt book, Beyond a Dream. It’s a fantastic read for Kentucky fans and just humans alike.

Often you can see Krebs on Kentucky Sports TV as a co-host, if you haven’t seen that, I recommend that, too.
