If you’re ever trying to think of a guy with an extremely long NBA career, Nazr Mohammed probably pops into your head. Mohammed play 17 seasons in the NBA, a much longer career than many NBA players these days.
Mohammed is one of the lucky guys who is able to say he won two National Championships at the University of Kentucky, 1996 and 1998. He was one of the most important parts of the Kentucky Wildcat teams he was a part of. However, during his first season with the Wildcats, the 1996 championship run, Mohammed didn’t see much playing time, he was a husky 315-pounds and had to get into a better shape to get the playing time he wanted.
Mohammed slimmed down for his sophomore season, and he was an extremely important key from then on out.
Althought Mohammed had to share a starting position with one of the best Wildcats, Jamaal Magloire, Mohammed always made his time on the court worth it.
Mohammed entered the NBA Draft after his junior season. He was the 29th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, but was quickly traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.
During his 17 year tenure in the NBA, Mohammed saw playing time for the following team
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Atlanta Hawks
- New York Knicks
- San Antonio Spurs
- Detroit Pistons
- Charlotte Bobcats
- Oklahoma City Thunder
- Chicago Bulls
Along with two NCAA championships under his belt, Mohammed also was a part of the 2005 NBA Championship with the Spurs.
