27. Mississippi State Bulldogs vs Kentucky Wildcats
(14-15)
Even though the end score of 74-56 looks like the Kentucky Wildcats absolutely dominated the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the saying looks can be deceiving is a real thing.
The Kentucky Wildcats headed to Starkville, Mississippi knowing they basically had this game in the bag. Which they weren’t wrong, but the Bulldogs had another idea on their mind, they believed in themselves and gave the undefeated Wildcats a good run for their money.
The Wildcats let a once 14-point lead slip to a 6 point lead at 33-27 right before the half. Had Tyler Ulis not hit a last second three-pointer to send the Wildcats up 9 at the half, momentum was not favoring the Wildcats.
After halftime, you knew the Wildcats had a nice butt-ripping in the locker room, but the Bulldogs still had the fire and belief in themselves.
The Bulldogs gave the Wildcats a scare when they pulled within 41-37 with less than 15 minutes remaining in the game. It looked as if this could come down to the wire if the Wildcats didn’t kick something into gear.
However, the Wildcats used their size and talent to over power the Bulldogs and pull out the 18 point win. They were led by Trey Lyles with 18 points, Karl-Anthony Towns with 10 rebounds and Tyler Ulis with 4 assists.
