#28. LSU Tigers vs Kentucky Wildcats
SEC Tournament 2014
Prior to the 2014 SEC Tournament, John Calipari mentioned a tweak he made to his Kentucky Wildcats. He believed in it. Fans ran with it. The team proved it was real. It was an impressive change within the function of the Kentucky Wildcats who, a week prior, looked as if they had nothing left in their tanks and were destined for an early exit in the 2014 SEC Tournament, as well as the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
The first game of the SEC Tournament for the Kentucky Wildcats was against the LSU Tigers. The two teams had split the two games prior this season. The Tigers coming out on top 82-87 in Baton Rouge and the Wildcats coming out on top 77-76 in overtime in Lexington. This game was surely in favor of the Tigers. However, the tweak took over and it’s all history from there.
The tweak was real and everyone really started to believe after the game against the Tigers. The Wildcats pulled out a 85-67 win over a team who beat them once and took them to overtime the next time. Somehow, the Wildcats pulled it together and won by 18. It was crazy. No one expected it, probably not even the team. The tweak was real, there was absolutely no denying it at point.
The Wildcats were led by James Young with 21 points, Julius Randle with 16 rebounds and Andrew Harrison with 8 assists.
