11. Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Kentucky Wildcats

2015 NCAA Tournament

We all saw the perfect season flash before our eyes. This was one of the most stressful games of the season. All in all, they would have deserved the loss if the Irish had been able to pull it off.

Winning against the Irish by a mere two points (66-68), the Wildcats can thank Karl-Anthony Towns for stepping up when someone needed to.

Towns played through significant foul trouble to score nine of his career-best 25 points over that final stretch, including the basket with 1:12 remaining to tie the game.

There was a big 3 pointers that came with 3:15 on the clock. The Wildcats, who were trailing by six with 6:14 to go, trailed by just two when Aaron Harrison pulled up from the right wing. With a mere six seconds left, Andrew Harrison drove and drew a foul on Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson. Basketball fans around the world were holding their breath, most of them hoping the Irish could pull off the upset.

Following a timeout called by the Irish, Harrison went to the line in a 66-66 game and sank two free throws to give Kentucky a 68 to 66 lead. The wound up being the final score after the Irish’s Jerian Grant missed a game winning 3-pointer (ones he CAN and DOES make) to end their season.

The game between Kentucky and Notre Dame was the highest rated college basketball game on cable of all-time.
