#5 Doron Lamb

Coming in at number five is the guy who helped the Wildcats win a National Championship in 2012. He had an amazing shot that was almost guaranteed to make it in, especially from beyond the arc.

Doron Lamb grabs the #5 spot in our ranking of top shooting guards at the University of Kentucky since the Calipari Era began.

Lamb, a 6-4, 200-pound shooting guard from Queens, New York, gave the Wildcats two years of his life. In his first season, the Wildcats lost by a single point to the University of Connecticut Huskies in the Final Four, a stinging loss for players and fans. However, Lamb decided it was in his best interest to return to Lexington for another season. That season happened to be one of the best seasons in college basketball, a 38-2 season and a National Championship. That loss to Indiana still hurts.

Was it better than last season? Maybe only because of the National Championship, but both seasons are once-in-a-lifetime seasons to many programs, they just both happened to be for the Wildcats and only a few years apart.

Let’s stop reminiscing and get back to focusing on Lamb. Lamb, who was drafted 42nd in the 2nd round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks hasn’t had much of an NBA career, but it doesn’t take away what he was for the Wildcats.

Maybe you don’t think he’s as deserving of the #5 spot, maybe you do. I think it’s a perfect fit for Lamb.
