#3 1977-78 Kentucky Wildcats

This Kentucky Wildcat team beat the Duke Blue Devils to win the 1978 National Championship. That game featured one of the best performances in college basketball history behind Jack “Goose”  Givens’ 41 point performance. Other vital players for this team are Kyle Macy, Mike Phillips Rick Robey, three more names that most, if not all, Kentucky fans are familiar with.

Kentucky Head Coach, and former player, Joe B. Hall, is one of only three men to win a National Championship as a player and as a coach. To this day, you can see Givens, Hall and Macy at many Kentucky events. Many fans over the age of 25 will mention that some of their favorite players were apart of this team. Personally, my father has always mentioned Goose Givens as one of his favorite. It is also one of the most beloved teams in Kentucky Basketball history.
