#7 2009-2010 Kentucky Wildcats

This was one of the most talented teams to ever play college basketball. It was John Calipari’s first season at the University of Kentucky and they seemed destined for the National Championship. This team featured current NBA stars Demarcus Cousins, John Wall and Eric Bledsoe. John Wall being the #1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

In this season, John Calipari set the record at the University of Kentucky for most consecutive wins in a season at 19, passing Adolph Rupp’s record of 11-0. This was also the season that the Kentucky Wildcats became the first team to reach the 2000 wins mark, which they still lead the collegiate basketball in total number of wins. The 2009-10 Kentucky Wildcats loss 3 games, one being in the Elite Eight against a hot shooting West Virginia Mountaineers team, knocking them out of their destined National Championship run. During that game, the Wildcats were plagued with horrendous shooting. The most memorable game of the season has to be the game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the SEC Championship.
