This team was destined to win the National Championship. And they did just that. Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Terrence Jones, Doron Lamb, Darius Miller and Marquis Teague led this team to their eighth and most recent National Championship, John Calipari’s first career National Championship, too.

This team faced a last second shot loss against the Indiana Hoosiers and a complete route in the SEC Tournament Championship game against the Vanderbilt Commodores, opening up their eyes and fueling their run for the National Championship. It was not denied. There wasn’t any moment during the NCAA Tournament that this team looked shaken or scared. Winning each game by a comfortable margin.

From blocked shots to crazy shots, this team will always be a fan favorite. It ended a 13 year championship drought and featured a great group of players doing so. It was a heck of a year and one of the best teams to ever play collegiate basketball.

Davis, the 2012 NBA Draft #1 pick, Kidd-Gilchrist the #2 pick and Jones have pretty solid careers in the NBA right now, and don’t miss a chance to come back to their Old Kentucky Home.
