Tonight starts the week 2 festivities off when Kansas City takes on the Broncos and I’m here to help figure out who to start, and who to sit. Like last year when did this I will not be telling to start players like Arian Peterson, Julio Jones or anyone else who is an obvious answer. So, I will be helping you decide on who on your bench you should give the nod to and who you should sit. I will be giving 3 players per position but I will only go in depth on one player per position. Now, with out any further ado here are my players you should take a look at this week.
Quarterbacks
Philip Rivers (SD) – at Cincinnati Bengals – 1:00pm
Historically Philip Rivers has had very good games against the Bengals, and I know I am going against the grain. Hear me out though. Rivers averages 286 passing yards, 1.6 touchdowns against the Bengals in his career against them. Plus Rivers is coming off a fantastic week 1 performance when he passed for 404 yards. I see Philip to continue his good play against the Bengals.
Prediction: 290 yards, 2 touchdowns
Marcus Mariota (TEN) – at Cleveland Browns – 1:00pm
Prediction: 300 yards, 2 touchdowns
Ryan Tannehill (MIA) – at Jacksonville Jaguars – 4:05pm
Prediction: 275 yards, 2 touchdowns
Wide Receiver
Brandon Marshall (NYJ) – at Indianapolis Colts – Mon, 8:30pm
One thing that Ryan Fitzpatrick does is lock on to one guy and stay locked on to Marshall, example, look at last Sunday, Marshall was thrown to numerous times. Also, use Stevie Johnson as an example, Johnson’s best year was the year Fitzpatrick was his quarterback. Brandon Marshall will directly benefit every week, unless he was to get hurt. Lastly, ever though the Colts have upgraded their secondary its still not elite and that’s why I like Marshall this week.
Prediction: 9 receptions, 85 yards, 1 touchdown
Nelson Agholor (PHI) – vs. Dallas Cowboys – 4:25pm
Prediction: 6 receptions, 70 yards, 1 touchdown
Tavon Austin (STL) – at Washington Redskins – 1:00pm
Predictions: 7 receptions, 65 yards, 1 touchdown
Running Backs
Ameer Abdullah (DET) – at Minnesota Vikings – 1:00pm
After a lot of back and forth on who would get the most of the workload between Ameer Abdullah and Joique Bell, it was finally settled on the field. Abdullah got most of the workload and man did he shine while doing it. The rookie had 94 yards total with 4 receptions and 1 touchdown. This week, Ameer will be going against a less stellar run defense when he goes against the Vikings. I look for Ameer to again bust through and have another big game.
Danny Woodhead (SD) – Cincinnati Bengals – 1:00pm
30 yards, 1 touchdown, 5 receptions – 35 yards
Frank Gore (IND) – vs. New York Jets – Mon, 8:30pm
80 yards, 1 touchdown, 3 receptions – 20 yards
Tight Ends
Tyler Eifert (CIN) – vs. San Diego Chargers – 1:00pm
For the first time in Andy Dalton’s career, he has a serviceable, healthy tight end, and his name is Tyler Eifert. It showed last week against the Raiders when Eifert went off for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. I fully expect that first week success to continue into this week against the San Diego Chargers.
Prediction: 8 receptions, 70 yards, 1 touchdown
Zach Ertz (PHI) – vs. Dallas Cowboys – 4:25pm
Prediction: 8 receptions, 80 yards, 1 touchdown
Jordan Cameron (MIA) – at Jacksonville Jaguars – 4:05pm
Prediction: 6 receptions, 65 yards, 1 touchdown
