Washington Wizzards star point guard and former Kentucky Wildcat John Wall seems to always be on ESPN personality Colin Cowherd’s mind. Wall is not on his mind because Cowherd likes Wall either, he talks about Wall because he doesn’t feel John Wall is mature as if he is constantly with Wall and personally knows him. His main argument is that John Wall did the dance called the Dougie before his first game in the league. He had this to say about Wall and the dance.
"Once again, John Wall – drip, drip, drip – it doesn’t mean he’s the devil … It doesn’t mean he doesn’t have talent. John Wall, college games, gang signs during games. The Dougie. Stupid. Turnover machine – that’s a judgment stat. Paul Pierce calling him out, needs to work harder. Thrown off a plane, hanging with dopes. Poor judgment, poor choices. You can look at his stats. His field goal percentage and his turnovers are [bad], those are judgment statistics. Do you take good or bad shots? John Wall takes a lot of bad shots. Turnovers? Poor judgment. A lot of turnovers. It’s what he is!”"
The famous dance at Big Blue Madness has also been talked about by him. I was there, and I can tell you, the loudest parts of the whole night were when Patrick Patterson was announced and when John Wall did his dance. Because of those dances, John Wall is immature. It seems like this is all he talks about. It in fact is immature on his part.
If you follow me on Twitter you know well of my dislike of Colin Cowherd and his poorly judged, unresearched comments, yes he has some good thoughts, but he is a polarizing figure and I happen to be on the dislike side. That said I absolutely loved what John Calipari said to him today on his show.
"You’ve got to stop on John Wall,” the coach said. “You’re out of your mind. He did something six years ago when he was 19 years old. He does a dance. What was the name of the dance? Stop. That was seven years ago. Here’s what I would say to you: he and Derrick Rose and a couple other guys are the best point guards in the league. They are.”"
“Don’t you think he could mature a little?” Cowherd asked.
"“Oh no, I’m with you, Listen, he has come so far. There’s not one time that he doesn’t text me or call me that ends with ‘Coach, I love you.’ Are you kidding me? And I’m telling you, he took over a franchise that was abysmal; they’re now in the playoffs. He’s 24 years old. Here’s what I would say: you can say, look, he doesn’t shoot [that well]. He’s becoming a better leader. He did the Dougie. He lost his mind. He didn’t know better. It was immature.”"
"“…You have your convictions — most of them wrong — but you do have your convictions, and you speak about them. You do a great job.”"
It’s things like that, that make you like John Calipari. It’s also things like this that make you dislike Colin Cowherd more if you’re on the side I am whe it comes to him. You may like Cowherd, and that’s ok, we all make mistakes, but remember one thing, he has a vendetta against John Wall. John Calipari put him in his place and hopefully he can stop talking aimlessly about John Wall and actually have some researched comments about him, like how he is only 24 and takes the Wizzards to the playoffs. So like Calipari baisically said, shut up Colin Cowherd.
