NOVEMBER 7
@ GEORGIA BULLDOGS (10-3)
As with almost every team in the SEC East, the Bulldogs have several questions headed into this season. They have to replace 12 starters but have the talent to have the new players step in almost seamlessly.
The QB position is up for grabs and the Bulldogs have lost their best receivers and there will be new faces there as well. This offense still has Nick Chubb and the majority of the offensive line returning and that is a solid foundation on which to build. New offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will have this offense in top gear by November. It’s not a matter of if they click, but when. If it is early, this is a legitimate Top five team.
There are major departures on the defense as well and the major priority will be maintaining the level of play of the secondary. Georgia gave up just 10 TDs in the air in SEC play last year so there may be a bit of a regression. Likewise, the loss of three defensive linemen and two linebackers means there is a lot up for grabs during summer practice.
Even with the departures, this should not be much of a game between the hedges. The Bulldogs still have too much talent.
