Your drive to work you drive over a pothole and get a flat. You get to work and get yelled at by your boss and your trying to get a time sensitive project done and you’re stressed. When you come home from a long day at work, throw your belongings on the ground, sit down and your kids come hounding you and you think “can this day get any worse?” You may want to just scream.  In these times it’s always good idea to have a positive attitude. Your life isn’t that bad. The always positive attitude is exactly what a 9 year old boy named Blake Hundley had.

Blake Hundley was a 9 year old boy who was diagnosed with brain cancer and had been battling cancer since 2012 and was the biggest Kentucky Wildcats fan. He was so big a Kentucky Wildcats fan he himself had a fan, a rather “big” fan, Willie Cauley-Stein. Willie and Blake became good friends, and Willie would wear a bracelet that said “Team Blake” on his ankle during games as inspiration. During the Wildcats open practice in the KFC Yum center back in March for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Willie Cauley-Stein gave little Blake Hundley dog tags that said “#BBN” and “#Brothers”. You could tell these two had a special bond.

Unfortunately for Blake, his family and all of Big Blue Nation this afternoon Blake Hundley had lost his long battle with a terrible disease. We have lost a brother of Big Blue Nation but more importantly a huge inspiration we can use all use on day in and day out basis. Willie Cauley-Stein lost a friend, a brother.

Blake was able to go to Lucas Oil Stadium and watch Willie and the Cats play one last time. It was the last time Willie had his biggest fan cheering him on. It wasn’t, however, the last time Willie will think about him when he plays.

So, the next time you’re having a “bad day”, keep in mind of our little friend and his positive attitude and his unmovable resolve. Even on days Blake could have said he was having a bad day he really wasn’t, he was just enjoying life and making the best out of every single day. So on this day even though it is sad, we should be celebrating the life of Blake Hundley and everything he’s given us. Hopefully we will be able to see you again one day, unfortunately until then we say goodbye young man, Blake Hundley.
