In a person’s life there are some events that you never forget, and can even remember everything you did that day this event happened. Well, one of those events in my life was when John Wall decided to commit to Kentucky. I was getting ready for school, and just got out of the shower when I turned on the TV to see Scott Padgett breaking the news.
I was completely shocked because we had no shot at getting him two months prior with Billy Gillispie, but when John Calipari moved to Lexington everything changed. Kentucky became relevant again over night, and John Wall made Kentucky “cool” again.
John Wall went on, and led Kentucky to a 34-3 record, and an elite eight appearance. That was just the beginning of Kentucky’s dominance and it all started with John Wall.
Wall went pro after the season, and became the #1 pick in the draft. Wall has become an all-star, and one of the best point guards in the NBA quickly.
Then last night happened, and it became real to me on how lucky we are to have John Wall to represent the University Of Kentucky. Wall became really good friends with a 6 year old girl named Miyah, and he gave her a chance to smile while she was battling cancer.
Yesterday, that little girl passed away from Leukemia, and John Wall broke down after a 133-132 victory over Boston. Wall ended the game with 27 points, and 16 assists. Wall after the game told a reporter that he was donating his jersey, and shorts to her family, and that was the last words he could say without breaking down in tears.
Not only is he a great player, and a future all-star for many seasons to come, but he is also a great kid, and an even better representative for the University Of Kentucky.
