Team Records and Series Notes

  • With the loss, Kentucky is 5-5, 2-5 in the Southeastern Conference. Georgia is 7-2, 5-2 in the SEC.
  • Georgia leads the all-time series, 53-12-2, including a 26-7 mark in games played in Lexington.
  • UK is 5-9-1 all-time when playing on Nov. 8.
  • Kentucky will return to action on Saturday at Tennessee, with kickoff at 4 p.m. ET in Knoxville, The game will be televised live on the SEC Network.
    • The game will also be broadcast live on the UK Radio Network, with Tom Leach, Jeff Piecoro and Dick Gabriel voicing the action.

Team Notes

  • Kentucky’s game captains were Jordan Swindle, Javess Blue, Alvin “Bud” Dupree and Za’Darius Smith for the ninth time in 10 games.
  • The Wildcats finished 2014 with a 5-2 record at Commonwealth Stadium. Both losses came against top-20 opponents.
    • Saturday marked the last game in the current configuration of Commonwealth Stadium, which will complete a $120 million renovation for the 2015 season.
      • UK has a 143-123-4 all-time record in CWS, dating back to 1973.
    • UK’s 16-play drive over 6:15 in the second quarter was its longest drive in plays (15) and tied the longest time of possession on a drive in 2014 (6:15).
    • UK’s two-yard scoring drive in the second quarter was its shortest scoring drive on the year.
    • After falling behind 21-0 after the first quarter, UK rallied with 24 points in the second quarter.
      • UK’s 24-point output was its best in a quarter in 2014 and the best in a single quarter since 2013.
      • It marked the most points scored in a quarter against an SEC school since scoring 28 vs. Florida in the third quarter in 2002.
      • With immediate records available back to 1982, it marks the most points scored in the second quarter against an SEC school. That record is held by a 28-point quarter vs. UGA in 1965.
      • The last time UK scored at least 24 points in a quarter was when it had 28 points on 11, 2010 vs. Western Kentucky.

Individual Notes

  • Sophomore QB Patrick Towles made his 10th consecutive start.
    • Towles rushed for his club-leading fifth TD of the year, a one-yard QB sneak in the second quarter.
      • Towles rushed for 60 yards on 17 carries, his second-best rushing output on the year.
    • Towles threw his 14th touchdown of the year and the 15th of his career.
      • Towles has a TD pass in nine of 10 games as a starter.
  • Freshman RB Stanley “Boom” Williams took a 56-yard carry for a touchdown, his third TD of the year.
    • Williams rushed 10 times for 100 yards, marking his second career 100-yard rushing outing.
      • It was UK’s first 100+ yard rusher since Williams set a career-high with 104 yards vs. Louisiana Monroe.
    • Williams’ 56-yard TD was his third 50+ yard rush of the year.
      • Williams is one of just six players in the nation with three TD rushes of at least 50 yards.
  • Freshman kicker Austin MacGinnis connected on a 38-yard field goal in the second quarter.
    • MacGinnis is now 14-for-20 on the year and is 7-for-8 from 30-39 yards.
  • Junior Landon Foster punted five times for a 41.8-yard average, with three punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
    • Foster has dropped a career-high 25 punts inside the 20 in 2014 and 53 in his three-year career.
      • Foster is now two punts downed inside the 20-yard line away from tying the single-season record, set in 2002 by Glenn Pakulak.
  • Junior LB Josh Forrest – a native of Paducah, Ky. – had a tackle for loss and has had at least one big play – QB sack, tackle for loss, pass interception, pass breakup or QB hurry – in every game this season.
    • Forrest finished with seven tackles and has eight tackles for loss in 2014 and 9.5 in his career.
  • Senior WR Javess Blue caught a nine-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter, marking his career-best fifth TD of the year and the ninth of his two-year career.
  • Junior RB Braylon Heard rushed for his fourth TD of the year.
  • Sophomore DB J.D. Harmon recovered his first career fumble.
  • Junior LB Khalid Henderson forced his first fumble of the year and the third of his career.
    • Henderson recorded a tackle for loss and has 3.5 on the year and six in his career.
  • Senior DE/LB Bud Dupree started his team-leading 36th career game.
  • Senior DE Za’Darius Smith, junior OT Jordan Swindle and sophomore C Jon Toth made their team-best 22nd consecutive starts.
  • Senior FB Darrell “D.J.” Warren played in his team-leading 46th career game.
  • Junior CB Cody Quinn broke up his career-high sixth pass of the year and now has 14 passes defended in his career.
  • Senior WR Demarco Robinson tied a season high with five catches.
  • Senior S Ashely Lowery tied for the team lead with seven tackles.
