Underwhelming is the only appropriate word I can think of to describe South Carolina’s season thus far. I had them picked to smack A&M- I was wrong. I didn’t think they would struggle with East Carolina, they did. I had them picked to lose to Georgia- wrong again. And I surely thought they would beat Mizzou who was coming off a loss to IU…nope. So I want to say they won’t beat Kentucky…but I won’t say it. They had the lead in the SEC East but just couldn’t hang on to it. The Gamecocks had a better day statistically- they had 338 offensive yards to the Tigers’ 280 and they allowed Missouri to convert two of 16 third down conversions. They had possession the ball around 12 more minutes than Mizzou did, too. They have had a tough opening stretch, however with every game being a conference game but one. I’m very interested to see what happens when Spurrier comes to town next weekend because both teams need this win badly.
