For the Kentucky Wildcats baseball team, the Road to Omaha goes through Louisville this year.

The Wildcats will not turn junior ace A.J. Reed today. Instead, Reed will be saved for Saturday’s game as the Wildcats turn to sophomore pitcher Kyle Cody (4-0, 2.65 ERA), who will make his sixth start of the season. For the Kansas Jayhawks, senior RHP Jordan Piche’ (6-5, 4.25 ERA) will take the mound.

Unlike the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament in which all fans had to turn to the UK IMG Radio Network, this year’s tournament will be televised in its entirety on ESPN3. Clay Matvick and Gabe Gross will be calling the action for ESPN. Neil Price, the Voice of the Wildcats, will have the call on the UK IMG Radio Network on WLAP 630-AM, WKJK 1080-AM, and on the UK Athletics website.

With the tournament being double-elimination, both teams will play tomorrow afternoon against the winner/loser of the game between Louisville and Kent State. Kentucky, of course, is no stranger to Kent State. After all, it was against Kent State in which the two teams played 21 innings. This year’s juniors were freshmen on that team. Should the Cats play Kent State at any point this weekend, the revenge factor will likely be present.

For now, it’s sit back, relax, and play ball.
