If you have not done so yet, it is time to start planning for the Big Blue Weekend that is ahead of us. The Spring football game is the crown jewel of the weekend, but the UKAA has a whole weekend of events planned.  With the construction going on at Commonwealth, you may want to check this page out before heading out on Saturday.

This weekend should be a pretty big recruiting weekend for UK football, But that does not mean that is the only time that recruits are coming through Lexington. Kentucky had a big visitor this past weekend.

"Highly touted wide receiver Jabari Greenwood was on UK’s campus Friday for an unofficial visit. Greenwood — a 6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect from Washington, D.C. — also visited Lexington for the program’s “junior day” festivities in February. 247Sports ranks him as a four-star recruit and the No. 35 wide receiver in the class of 2015. Kentucky has already had success recruiting Washington, D.C., for 2015. One of the Cats’ four commitments for next year is Levon Livingston, a four-star lineman from that area. Greenwood also has scholarship offers from Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Maryland, N.C. State and several other BCS-level schools. He is one of UK’s top recruiting targets at wide receiver."

Of all the 2015 recruits, Damien Harris would send the biggest statement about Kentucky football. Harris has Kentucky in the mix, but it’s pretty obvious the Wildcats need to show improvement from their back to back 2-10 seasons.

"Harris recently announced his top 10 schools, and Kentucky made that cut. The rest of that list reads like a who’s who of college football: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Southern Cal and Tennessee. Helmholdt said he considers Ohio State, Alabama and Florida State the “key players” right now in Harris’ recruitment. The analyst said “you can probably throw Michigan” in that group too. Harris committed to the Wolverines last year and then backed out of that pledge shortly after the program fired its offensive coordinator. Most analysts don’t consider Kentucky to be in Harris’ “top tier” of schools at the moment. But the general consensus is that the Wildcats have a legitimate shot at the highest-rated in-state player of the Rivals.com era. Harris has already made several recruiting visits to Lexington, including one trip for a UK practice earlier this month. He’s expected to be back in town for Saturday’s Blue-White Game. The interest is real. In the end, it’s all going to come down to winning. Harris has already made it clear that he wants to see better on-the-field results from the Wildcats this season. He hasn’t mentioned a “magic number” of victories that would elevate UK’s status in his eyes, but it’s clear that the Cats must be more competitive to have a shot at his commitment. If UK can do that, Helmholdt says they’ll have a serious chance at landing the nation’s No. 1 running back."
