In 24 hours, the fax machine at UK will whir to life as Kentucky’s top 20 class will send in theor LOI’s. The biggest question for tomorrow (aside from why faxes are still used) is whether Kentucky can follow up this class with on field progress?

"The next step for Stoops and Kentucky will be to turn the program’s recruiting success into an improved on-field product. Though the Wildcats returns most of their key contributors from last season, they are not expected to compete with the likes of Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida for the SEC East title. But Kentucky seems to have the talent in place to at least be more competitive than it was last season. Seven players, including Barker, enrolled in December or January and will participate in winter conditioning and spring practice. Whether they or any of their classmates can help the Wildcats climb out of the SEC cellar this season remains to be seen. “I think you’ll see some improvement right away,” Stoops said. “These kids will come in and some of them will help us, but certainly they need time to develop. You never know which ones will be able to compete at a high level that first year. “There’s opportunity for some guys to come in and help us. But I think certainly, we need time to develop the great prospects we’re recruiting and let them mature. I’m not sure about the timetable on that.” That such a timetable even exists at Kentucky is a stark change from the past."

Kentucky’s Super Bowl ad bears multiple viewings and it has made quite the impact with the BBN and even the 2015 recruiting class. John Clay tells us that UK football definitely got the bang for it’s bucks.

"“The feedback has certainly been positive,” said Jason Schlafer, a senior associate athletics director. “I think Twitter broke last night with people sharing the YouTube link to the spot.” The 60-second commercial was purchased and shown in the Lexington market for a little more than $17,000, that price was up from the $10,000 paid for last year’s spot, which was only 30 seconds long. Less than 12 hours later, it had been viewed on YouTube nearly 40,000 times, which meant it had done its job of being seen by other UK fans worldwide, Schlafer said. “The entire target market for that spot are people that care about Kentucky football,” he said. “They’ll find a way to it and it will find a way to them.” The Super Bowl ad, narrated by UK Coach Mark Stoops, is looking ahead to the future, including a hidden single-frame artist’s rendering of a view of the new Commonwealth Stadium near the end. “People ask me: ‘Why here? Why Kentucky?’ I said: ‘Why not?’” Stoops says to open the spot. He talks about laying the foundation and the commercial includes several key returnees from last season like Ryan Timmons, Jojo Kemp, Javess Blue and Blake McClain. There was heavy focus on UK’s two returning defensive ends Bud Dupree and Za’Darius Smith. The commercial also shows the seven new signees and early enrollees for this 2014 signing class, the center piece of the group being Conner quarterback Drew Barker, who is donning the much discussed but never worn in a game gray uniforms."
