If there is one thing that Steve Spurrier does well is to take jabs at opposing teams through the media. Over the years, he seems to have developed a particular disdain for Kentucky. Here is a list of some of “Steve Superior’s” quotes directed at UK.

"21. Steve Spurrier and Kentucky. So, Wildcats backers, does the South Carolina coach get under your skin more because he’s 19-1 all-time against UK — or because he has an unfailing knack for saying the one thing that just rips the heart out of The Long-Suffering UK Football Fan? 20. 2011. South Carolina obliterates Kentucky 54-3. The UK offense compiles a putrid stat line: 9 punts, 6 turnovers, 6 first downs. 19. Steve “Superior” said: “Kentucky has a heck of a punter, I know that.” 18. 2009. Rushing from the Wildcat formation, Randall Cobb gashes South Carolina repeatedly and rallies UK within 28-26 late. Yet with a chance to tie the game with a two-point conversion, Kentucky does not have Cobb carry the ball. UK’s two-point pass fails. 17. Steve “Superior” said: “We’re all happy they didn’t put that running quarterback in there, Randall Cobb. I’m glad they didn’t use him on that (two-point try). We couldn’t tackle him.”"

Four games into the football season and Kentucky is seemingly at the same place they were before Western Kentucky …searching for a starting QB. In the eyes of a lot of Kentucky fans, this is something that needs to be resolved soon.

"Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said today that UK continues to evaluate quarterbacks Maxwell Smith and Jalen Whitlow as the Cats prepare to play at South Carolina Saturday night. “We would like to get to one (quarterbac), we really would,” said Stoops — the same statement offensive coordinator Neal Brown made after Saturday’s loss to Flordia. “Last week was unique with Max being banged up, he missed the entire bye week, he threw the ball extremely well last week in practice, looked very good in — so, you know, we’re in a little bit of a quandary right now, with what to do. “I think we’re going to try to give it to one person, give him the reps and see what he can do. I think we need to do that. It has not been clear‑cut at this point, it would be reckless for us to name one guy at this point because nobody has taken the job and we’re going to evaluate it this week and see where we’re at.” Stoops emphasized the hope is that Smith or Whitlow will take charge of the position. “I think we need to take one of these guys to take our team,” Stoops said. And how would that happen? “Consistency, just playing. We will tailor our offense to do whatever we (have) to do to help us move the ball to win games. We just need the best player to come forward and be consistent and give us a chance to win,” Stoops said."
