It was a longshot, but the word is out that the NCAA has denied the Davis twins appeal to play football this year for Mark Stoops. That just adds two more weapons in Chris and Demetrious Davis for the 2014 team. As we recall, the Davis twins transferred from Pitt after redshirting their freshman year. You have to like the attitude the family is taking however.
"Several times the NCAA contacted the family or Kentucky for more information about the appeal, a sign the father took to mean the appeal was at least being considered. Instead, they will have three years of eligibility left starting in 2014. “But you never know with the NCAA. Maybe some different started handling the appeal. Maybe they just had a change of heart,” Chris Davis Sr. said. “At first, we all thought it might be a long shot. But then I think everyone got hopeful and excited. The twins were pretty down when they first heard the news, but they will bounce back. They knew this was a possibility.” The news probably hit Chris Davis harder because at one time he was working with the No. 1 defense at cornerback early in practice. Then assistant coach Derrick Ansley told him he had to give other players more work in case he was not ruled eligible. “I think even Demetrious (a wide receiver) was looking forward to season and thinking he can help. It’s a long, brutal schedule that UK plays and they both had seen they could compete and help,” said the twins’ father. “That’s what made it hard after they got their hopes up. They really wanted to help this team win. “But they will get over it and work their butts off on the scout team. That’s the kind of kids they are. They’ll use this year to get better.”"

If not for Bobby Petrino, WKU LB Andrew Jackson would be the most despised person on the field (he already may be) on Saturday night when Kentucky faces WKU. Jasckson, who gained notoriety for his “They supposed to be SEC” comment two years ago is back again, flapping his yap.
Mark Stoops was asked yesterday about bulletin board material and he really did not seem that too nonplussed about it … at least in public. Avery Williamson really did not seem too upset about Jackson’s comments either … at least in public.
Kentucky has plenty reason for revenge and I would look for a totally different UK team tomorrow night.

That salty air you may feel this morning is coming from Louisville as Cardinal fans are already having to defend their schedule just one game into the college football season. That’s because UConn, one of the teams to beat UL last year, lost to Towson 33-18 last night. Ouch. Also Ole Miss topped Vandy 35-29 last night in one of the best early season games you will find. College football is back, folks and it’s fantastic.
