To start things off, the quarterback position is still a bit of a question mark at WKU. Head coach Bobby Petrino said junior Brandon Doughty will start at QB against Kentucky, but many believe redshirt freshman DaMarcus Smith will probably still play in run-option packages.

Doughty still figures to get the majority of snaps Saturday night, despite having only thrown three passes all of last year, it won’t be his first start.

On Sept. 10, 2011, Doughty entered the game late during a 40-14 loss at home against Navy and went 12-21 for 153 yards with an interception. The next week against Indiana State, Doughty tore the ACL in his right knee, and has been relegated to the bench since.

Now, it’s Doughty’s time to shine under the bright Nashville lights. He had a solid offseason, highlighted by an impressive 314-yard, five-touchdown performance on 23/35 passing in WKU’s spring scrimmage.
