Make no mistake that Vince Marrow is one of the most important pieces of Mark Stoops recruiting team, especially when it comes to Ohio. Ben Roberts talked to him and has a rather detailed and interesting interview, so definitely check it out. In it, Marrow was asked what is a realistic expectation for 2013.

"How do you take that sales pitch of the potential and turn it into results? What is a realistic expectation for the 2013 season? “I’ll tell you this: We’re not getting caught up with wins and losses. That will take care of itself. What we want to see from offense is to be efficient, execute, don’t have too many (missed assignments). If you have that, then you have a chance to win games. Special teams – don’t lose on special teams. And defense – get turnovers. And then at the end of the day, we’re going to come out successful, whether that adds up to eight wins, 12 wins or four wins. But when we look at the product of what we have, and then what we’re bringing in, I feel pretty good about it.”"

Now that we now that JD Harmon will not be with the team this year, John Clay tells us that Nate Willis really needs to get eligible for UK. Clay also takes a look at some other players who can step up and get some playing time in the absence of Harmon.

"“We would love to have Nate and hopefully we’ll get him here sooner than later,” cornerbacks coach Derrick Ansley said after tonight’s practice. “He’s a good player coming in, but we’ve got to get him here and get him in our system and develop him also. But until then, we’ve got to continue to develop the guys we’ve got.” Based on spring practice, the UK media guide listed sophomore Cody Quinn as the starter at one corner, backed up by junior Eric Simmons, sophomore transfer Cantrell McKinley, redshirt freshman Cody Lewis and sophomore Rodney Cox. Fred Tiller, a sophomore, was listed as the starter at the other corner, backed up by Harmon. Now, sophomore Jerry Williams would be second on the depth chart, followed by junior R.J. Williams. True freshman Jaleel Hytchye will surely get a long look now at corner. Defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot had listed Hytchye as one of the rookies who could get immediate playing time. Blake McClain is another true freshman who is on campus going through drills."

When you pitch 8.3 innings and allow just four hits in your Major League Baseball debut and are a former Wildcat, you earn a spot in the Morning 5. And that is exactly what Andrew Albers did last night. It’s been a long and winding road to the majors for Albers and our very own Daniel Solzman interviewed him about a year ago. You can check that out here.
