By this time every season since John Calipari has arrived in Lexington; Kentucky usually has a pretty good class locked up with a couple more guys to push them to #1 waiting until the spring signing period, but with the 2014 class its different, and Kentucky only has one commitment(Karl Towns) locked up so far.

Jerry Meyer from 247sports caught up with the Herald-Leader’s Ben Roberts to talk about the crystal ball, and Kentucky’s 2014 class. Meyer talked about how ever since Calipari arrived as the Kentucky head coach they are expected to have the nations #1 recruiting class every year, and Meyer called that “crazy”, but thats what Cal has done with 5 straight #1 classes.

Meyer has Kentucky looking really good in 2014 as well, and he said “If Kentucky gets who I have predicted it would be hard for them to be pushed out of the number 1 ranking again for a 6th straight season.” Meyer went on to tell Roberts who he thinks Kentucky will end up with, and it started with the most pivotal position on the floor, and that is point guard. Meyer expects Prime Prep Guard Emmanuel Mudiay to be Kentucky’s point guard for the class, and most people feel that Kentucky has been the leader since day 1.

As far as shooting guard Meyer has predicted that Kentucky will land Rashad Vaughn who is ranked in the top 10 as well in every major recruiting service. He said “He will believes that it’s the best fit for Vaughn, and makes the most sense.”

Stanley Johnson is a guy that John Calipari has been hot on from the beginning, and really wants to coach. I have talked to a couple people, and they say Johnson reminds them of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Good news for Kentucky is that while a lot of people say Arizona for Johnson; Meyer predicts Kentucky.

Trey Lyles is one that nobody can really get a feel for; because he was committed to Indiana, and then backed out of that commitment to look at other schools, and almost everybody was for sure it was Kentucky. Lately it was a lot of Louisville buzz, and then at the Peach Jam they buzz switched back to Kentucky for Lyles, and Meyer agreed. Meyer told Ben Roberts that ” he thinks its always been Kentucky, and he’s sticking with his pick.”

Another guy that Meyer has picking Kentucky is PF Angel Delgado who doesn’t have a UK offer as of today, but Meyer said he expects a offer to come. Delgado has a lot of Kentucky connections with his father, and Calipari which is the reason why everybody thinks he will pick Kentucky if offered.
