As of right now, Kentucky’s football class is pretty much a consensus top five class. And as John Clay says, Stoops is recruiting at a Calipari-like pace. It is still early however, and NSD is a long ways off, but what Stoops and company are doing is pretty amazing.
"In the past, Kentucky would have popped the champagne over securing a commitment from one Top 250 prospect. West was the fourth player in the Rivals Top 250 — joining Conner quarterback Drew Barker (117); West Chester, Ohio, running back Mikel Horton (131); and Springfield, Ohio, wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass (205) — to commit to Kentucky for 2014. At present, Georgia doesn’t have four commitments from players listed in the Rivals 250. Neither does Oklahoma (coached by a fellow named Bob Stoops), or Southern Cal (where Tee Martin escaped to a couple of years back) or Penn State. Rivals has UK ranked No. 4 nationally in recruiting. Sports 24/7 has UK at No. 5 and Scout at No. 10. The lemon-suckers among us will tell you this all means next to nothing. Paper tigers. Rankings shuffle continuously. These commits could all change their minds by February and sign with more tradition-rich schools. Football recruiting is so much harder to judge than basketball recruiting. That’s all true. Right here, right now, however, here’s what it does mean: It means momentum. It means the momentum Stoops established when he first was named coach last November has carried through the 2013 signing day, through 50,000-plus at the spring game and on into the summer camp season where the Cats have coaxed their latest commitments."

Did Wes Welker commit a secondary violation while engaging with a commit on Twitter? Possibly. Nick Kurtz is the #7 JUCO WR per 24/7 and he has an offer from Kentucky and Texas Tech. It seems that Welker may have crossed a line in “recruiting” Kurtz to the Aggies.
"On Friday, Welker had a brief back-and-forth on Twitter with Nick Kurtz, a wide receiver from Grossmont College in El Cajon, Calif. “Time of my life right now,” Kurtz posted. “Everything I expected and more.” Welker tweeted to Kurtz, “You are visiting Lubbock already?” “At BYU Wes! Hahah,” Kurtz wrote. Welker replied, “Name me the last WR in the league from BYU? Think big picture. I will give you 50 more reasons why they would be a bad move. TT” Kurtz finished the conversation by saying, “it’s a good place man!” About a month ago, Welker tweeted, “Just saw @TheKurtzWay highlight tape. Dude is something serious!” Kurtz, listed at 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds, is ranked as the No. 30 junior-college recruit in the nation and the No. 7 JUCO wide receiver by the 247sports.com recruiting service. Tech is one of about a dozen schools known to have offered him a scholarship with BYU, California, Illinois, Kansas and Kentucky among the others. Last season, he caught 49 passes for 697 yards and 10 touchdowns. Beal acknowledged Welker’s tweeting at Kurtz could be considered a secondary violation by the NCAA."
